Statement

Over the 'Lockdown' period I presented a series of live demonstrations on the internet called Sanity Saver Demos. Initially it started as a project to invite people into my studio to combat the feeling of isolation and inability to teach face to face. People joined me from all over the world as the internet does. These were random demos, just catching me in the studio making my little observances in a form of daily ritual to maintain a rythmn and pulse to life that other wise a vacuous and fearful exisitance. There was a shock of seeing myself on camera and realising how I felt was how I looked and so a process of 'covering up' began. This personal camoflage also started to appear in my work where I started to take paintings and copy them via acetone transfer and re print them working over with paint and print. The internal structure was now veiled by layers of copy and manipulation sheilding me from the outside world.
